Taking a glance at upcoming family friendly activities in London. Please only continue reading if accompanied by child.

Today:

The LSO St. Luke’s is hosting another free lunchtime concert from 12:30-13:15. This time children can learn about the double bass.

In the afternoon, head to the Lancaster Youth Club for a drop in visual arts session. Learn about painting, drawing, photography, and stenciling. Sessions will be held every Friday until the end of 2010 from 16:00-18:00. Free for kids aged12-17.

Saturday: Learn about the importance of tea and other food supplies during the Second World War with Everything Stops for Tea at the Imperial War Museum. 11:00-12:30 and 14:30-16:00, free.

Create a puppet and hear a story with the Museum of London Docklands’s Sailor’s 1000 Stories and Puppet Making. The event runs from 12:30-13:30 and again from 14:30-15:30, 5+.

Sunday: From 11:00-13:00 (and again from 14:00-16:00) work on a theatrical backdrop with collage techniques at the National Gallery with the The Stage is Set workshop. Free, ages 5-11.

Experience an afternoon with Aesop at the Broadway in Barking’s Forest of Fables. The event starts at 15:00 and is suitable for sprouts 5+. Tickets £8, £6 concessions, £22 family.

During the Week: Check out the National History Museum’s Veolia Environment Photography of the Year exhibit, which features 95 award winning images larger than ever before.

Head back to the Broadway to watch Begin/End, the story of the friendship of Lili and Yaz and how it changes as they grow up. The show starts at 19:30 and is suitable for teens 14+. Tickets £10/£8 concessions.

Book your place for the Teddy Bears’s Picnic at the Museum of Childhood. The picnic happens from 13:00-14:00 on Fridays 19 and 26 March and 2 April. Booking is free but required. Suitable for fives and under.
